If you are aware of the fantastic book The One & Only Ivan By Kathrine Applegate, you will surely adore this fabulous book!

‘Trees can’t tell jokes but they can tell stories.’
This is a quote from the heartwarming and hilarious book from the point of view of a 216-year-old, optimistic, oak tree named Red. Red is the neighborhood wishtree, people would come and tie their wishes on May 1st and whisper them to Red. Red has many nice residents and a good friend; which is a crow named Bongo. When the person who owns Red decides to cut him down after wishing day, Red decides to make a change in the world by making this girl named Samar’s wish come true, before he gets cut down. My ultimate favorite character would be Bongo because she is just such a pessimist, very aggressive and bossy, but on the inside, she is so nice and kind and cares so much about Red. She’s like an onion with many layers. My favorite part of the story would be when they did take two of trying to make Samar’s wish come true and they do the plan with the baby opossum named Flashlight; this part just made me laugh out loud and giggle so much! The only thing I would want more in the book would be a second part! I would recommend this book to people who have liked Kathrine Applegate’s books before like The One and Only Ivan or Crenshaw. I would consider this fabulous book for readers of all ages and who enjoy a mix of realistic fiction and fantasy. Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!!
